Research and insight
Drawing on my experience as a journalist and curator of The Trim newsletter, I support fmcg teams with well-researched reports, newsletters and executive briefings on trends and industry developments.
There are lots of insight experts and commentators out there. What makes me different is my journalistic background: I know where to find the most interesting information and how to extract valuable insights from experts. I zero in on what matters and present it all in a clear, easily digestible format.
I am well connected across fmcg and grocery retail and read widely, deliberately seeking out articles, news and commentary outside of the big UK trade publications and nationals. Clients tell me my briefings contain insight they simply don't get elsewhere.
For a taste of what I read in a given week, check out The Trim, my free weekly roundup of noteworthy articles about food, drink and grocery retail.
Here are some of my current research & insight projects:
For a major fmcg supplier, I interview customers, commentators and industry experts on key industry issues on a biannual basis and turn the findings into a punchy deck ready to be used in internal and external presentations
For a tech provider to the fmcg and grocery retail industry, I produce monthly blogs and insight articles for their website as well as an internal newsletter to keep their teams abreast of the latest industry news and developments
For a major fmcg supplier, I produce a monthly insight newsletter that identifies emerging talking points in their category and pulls together major news developments, reports and commentary relevant to their sector
For a PR agency, I produce a quarterly newsletter on a topic relevant to their fmcg clients, supported by a curated selection of media stories and links
“For several years now, I’ve partnered with Julia on insight and consultancy projects for major fmcg clients. She’s a dream to work with, and it also helps her knowledge of food and drink and ability to cut to the chase are second to none!
“Julia has an exceptional ability to sift through the noise and identify the story that truly matters, connecting disparate data points, industry trends and developments into actionable, impactful insights. As ex-managing editor of The Grocer, it’s no surprise her writing is best in class and our client briefings and reports don’t just inform – they inspire action and spark fresh ideas. Her integrity, curiosity and ability to uncover hidden opportunities have consistently elevated our work. I can’t recommend Julia highly enough.”
