Hi, I’m Julia
I am a B2B writer, editor, consultant and trainer specialising in food & drink, with more than 15 years’ experience working on and with trade publications.
I spent nine years on staff at The Grocer, including five as managing editor, where I was in charge of the day-to-day running of the publication, commissioned more than 1,000 articles for its opinion section and led on digital strategy.
Now that I’m freelance, I love writing challenging features and reports about anything from food trends to retailer strategy and the impact of new technology on food & drink. (You can see examples of my editorial work here.)
I also use my experience of writing for a senior fmcg audience (and many, many hours spent poring over Google Analytics) to help companies create engaging thought leadership articles, whitepapers and reports that make an impact with readers. Plus, I advise on media and content strategy and run workshops on writing, storytelling and pitching. You can find out more about working with me here.
In addition to my writing and consulting work, I regularly speak at industry events, host conferences, moderate panels and present webinars. I also curate The Trim, a weekly newsletter that rounds up interesting and unusual food & drink articles from around the web.
Prior to working on The Grocer, I was editor of New Media Markets, a B2B publication for the TV industry.
I went freelance in September 2019.
